A podcast is a series of digital-media files which are distributed over the Internet for playback on portable media players and computers. Each week on the Shipwrecked website, a number of Shipwreckers creat a podcast from the island they talk about what is happenign behind the scenes, as well as how they get alogn with other contestants. The podcast is replacing other forms of broadcasted media as it can be accessed at any time, and also provides a more accurate representation of the person's oppinions (as it cannot be tampered with, unlike written media).
The Shipwrecked podcast appeals to a wide range of people, as the show itself is quite popular, although it will appeal more to young men and women of a similar age to the shipwreckers themselves.
The key concepts involved are: Immediacyand Time Shift.
Immediacy - There is a new podcast every week, keeping up-to-date with the show.
Time-Shift - The Podcasts can be accessed at any time, as they will stay up on the website until the show is finished.
